There have been many pros or good things that have come out of the signing of NAFTA. An obvious pro of NAFTA is that it made trade between all North American countries free. Another good thing that came out of the NAFTA signing was wage increases for all the North American countries. Statistics show that since NAFTA was signed the average wages in Canada, The United States, and Mexico have all gone up. Wages in The United States have gone up .17%, .96% in Canada, and 1.3% in Mexico. Another huge pro that came from the signing of NAFTA was that it created jobs for US workers. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce NAFTA is the foundation for at least 5 million US jobs. In addition to these pros, another pro is that NAFTA has increased trade between Canada, The United States, and Mexico, in 2009 the US by themselves traded 1.6 trillion dollars in goods with Canada and Mexico. The trading of goods and services between the NAFTA partners has increased from $337 billion before NAFTA, to $1,182 trillion in 2011. Another pro of the signing of NAFTA is that the GDP for all the North American countries has gone up dramatically since it was signed in 1993. There are many pros to the signing of NAFTA, but in order to understand whether NAFTA was good or bad for the economy we must also look at the cons of the signing of NAFTA.
